Whenua and Whanau - Matariki soap

A luxurious head-to-toe soap bar crafted with intention, inspired by the colours, traditions, and connection of a traditional hāngi.

Created as a celebration of Matariki, this bar reflects the gathering of whānau, the sharing of kai, and the beginning of a new season of growth and cultivation. Across Aotearoa, Matariki is a time to come together, honour the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead to the future.

The swirling hues throughout this soap tell the story of a hāngi in preparation. Warm oranges and earthy reds represent the nourishing kai shared among loved ones, from kūmara and pumpkin to pork, chicken, potatoes and watercress. Soft greys, whites and browns echo the coals, stones and earth that slowly transform simple ingredients into a feast. Each colour folds and intertwines, symbolising the connections between us, our whānau, hapū and iwi.

Rich in nourishing oils and butters, this creamy bar gently cleanses face and body without stripping the skin of moisture. Finely ground coffee provides a light exfoliation, leaving skin feeling smooth, refreshed and revitalised.

Ingredients: Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Water, Sodium Hydroxide (Lye), Fragrance Oil, Coffee Grounds.

In collaboration with Maimiti Designs by Mahina, we have created the Matariki Set! This stock is limited edition and once its gone, its gone! Mahina has meticulously created sets of earrings reflecting each of the stars from our matariki constellation. She has chosen specific precious stones, beads and stars to perfectly reflect remembrance, togetherness, manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga and most importantly, Matariki. 

The set includes 1x large soap, 1x maimiti design earrings, 1x mini heart salt soap
